That's a hard one to pin down, it really is. There's three or four fics that spring to mind all at once, specific moments that stood out and really hit hard. They all seem to share a common aspect of emotion lightyears beyond sexual attraction, of accepting something incredibly difficult in order to hold the relationship together or making a massive sacrifice for each other.
